The Dublin Regional Enterprise Awards ceremony was held on the 19th September in the Civic Offices in Wood Quay. These awards are designed to recognize the achievements of BTWEA and STEA recipients as they build their businesses. Ballyfermot Chapelizod Partnership had two nominees in the running. The first, Paddy Berry, who is a member of the Travelling Community, received a special award for having the most enduring journey on his road to self-employment.
Paddy received a Certificate and a winners copper plaque and a cheque for €250. Paddy’s acceptance speech had to be heard to be believed, it was so moving and so complimentary of the Partnership. There was hardly a dry eye in the house! In his speech afterwards, Minister Denis Naughten twice quoted from Paddy’s speech. Paddy now runs his own successful Handyman business and can turn his hand to anything.
Our other nominee, Jackie Maher, was in the running, along with seven other finalists, for the three top prizes. Not only did she receive a prize, she was placed first in the competition! Jackie was also presented with a Certificate and Copper Plaque and a very nice cheque for €1,000 !! She also was fulsome in her praise of the support she received from Ballyfermot Chapelizod Partnership staff. Jackie currently runs her own successful business as a “Cat Sitter” in people’s homes and is doing amazingly well also !
Our congratulations to both winners and a special mention to our former colleague and Enterprise Officer, Audrey Coyne, who strategically mentored both clients on their respective paths to success!
