Below are a range of projects and services that the Life Long Learning team offer at various points throughout the year. Look out for the latest information on our News page and in our social media.
Education Resource Fund
BCP launches an Education Resource Fund for local students every summer. This fund can help with the cost of travel, books or IT and other equipment associated with further and higher education courses.
Cherry Orchard Leaders in Learning
Since 2019, BCP have also run the Cherry Orchard Leaders in Learning Fund on behalf of the Cherry Orchard Development Plan working group. This is a scholarship of up to €1,500 for pioneering students living in the Cherry Orchard area. The fund is also launched in the summer with a closing date in September.
The Story Time Reading Project is a collaboration between Marino Institute of Education, Ballyfermot Libraries and Ballyfermot Partnership. It is a 5 week reading project with the aim to encourage good reading habits and to help develop children’s vocabulary, conversation and cognitive skills.
Additional Maths and English Tuition
BCP offers additional Maths and English tuition for Leaving Cert students throughout the year in 6 week cycles. OL and HL Maths takes place in St. Dominic’s on Tuesdays 6pm to 8pm and Mixed ability English on Thursday 6pm to 8pm.
BCP Education has been pleased to sponsor 11 local students for a full academic year JumpaGrade tuition in a subject of their choice.
Yoga for Schools
BCP offer yoga and mindfulness classes through our local secondary schools facilitated by a local a qualified and experienced local instructor.
Animate4 Success is a programme collaboration with BCFE Arts and Animation Department and local primary schools. Each year BCFE invites local primary school students to take part in arts workshops with a community focus. Often the projects are inter-generational with an emphasis on sharing stories and local history. A celebration of the work created is held every year in BCFE and work is displayed in Ballyfermot library.
In addition to one-to-one guidance, the Education Department offers workshops throughout the year to secondary schools, CTCs and community groups. Recording of workshops can be found on the BCP Youtube channel.
To complement education workshops, a local Careers Fair is organised every two years though the KITE network in collaboration with Ballyfermot library and BCFE Business students. A series of fun workshops are also facilitated by BCP during College Awareness Week in November.
