BCP now has a podcast. Called ‘BCP Together with…‘ each episode includes interviews with BCP staff talking about the work that we do in Ballyfermot, Chapelizod and Cherry Orchard. There will also be interviews with local community activists, staff working in the area and people working to support the development of the community. Episode 9: BCP Togther with…The Bungalow and The Library. In this episode we interview Marie Delaney who runs the Cherry Orchard Family Resource Centre (aka The Bungalow) and the with Una Gomez who is the senior librarian in Ballyfermot Library.
Episode 8: BCP Together with…Cherry Orchard Youth Integrated Service and Candle Community Trust. In this episode we interview Amanda McCoy from COIYS about the very wide range of services available at the Equine Centre in Cherry Orchard – including a tour around the facility. We also have a very interesting and at times reflective interview with Michael Ruddy who works for Candle Community Trust.
Episode 7: BCP Together With…Jobs Club & Enterprise Supports. In this episode we interview Fintan McAuley who co-ordinates the BCP Jobs Club and Ralph James, BCPs Enterprise Development Officer. Both give us an insight into how they came to work for the partnership and how they now support people in the Ballyfermot Chapelizod area.
Episode 6: BCP Together with…Tus and Community Development. In this episode, we speak to Ciara O’Connell about her role as a Tus Team Leader, how Tus works and how a person can get a Tus placement. Then Una interviews Douglas about his role as Community Development Co-ordinator for Ballyfermot Chapelizod Partnership and the role Community Development plays locally.
Episode 5: BCP Together with…Together FM. Together FM is Ballyfermots own community radio station. Formed out of the ashes of West Dublin Access Radio, Together FM is filling a gap in the community. We talk to the two Mary’s who are helping to build and maintain community radio in the Ballyfermot area. Also interviewed is Trina O’Connor, a criminologist who will be leading on some research in Cherry Orchard.
Episode 4: BCP Together with…the Orchard Centre. The Orchard Community Centre has undergone some changes in the last two years and has strong ambitions for the years to come. Listen to two key staff in the Orchard Centre tell us about whats been happening. We start though with an interview with BCP Education Officer Antoinette Paton who tells us about upcoming financial support available from BCP to students.
Episode 3: BCP Together with…Social Enterprise. Social Enterprises are an increasing focus of activity in Dublin. In Cherry Orchard, there is the Cherry Orchard Community Garden that has recently taken on its first manager, Peadar Lynch. We spoke to him about his role and aspirations for the garden. But first, we spoke to Bried Croal who is the Social Enterprise Innovator for the area. Funded via the Making Cherry Orchard Better Plan, Bried has been working to bring local social enterprises together and foster a greater desire for new social enterprises in the community.
Episode 2: BCP Together with…Community Activists. Community activism is the lifeblood of any community. In this episode, we speak to Sandra and Peter who are involved with the Ballyfermot Chapelizod Access Group and its Smashing Barriers drama project. We also speak to David from Familibase and Kenneth from the Cherry Orchard Running Club.
